AESTHETIC STUDIES

There is something simple colors sometimes speaking louder than vibrant pigments. The different shades can tell a loud story, depending on how it is detailed and styled. A journal tear turned virtual, to showcase my color study of off-white + creme. Discovering my staples TCX was such an exciting experience, especially when one colors can have thousands of possibilities. As I searched, I was looking for that warmth and cool creme, that could become a staple and amalgamate perfectly with other GEORGINA D’ANGELO pieces. I started with Pantone® swatches, and color picking photos from vacations. Most of my discoveries for my off-white comes from European street walls, furniture, linen, natural cotton, wheat, rice, and much more. Here is an example of a dissection different color options. Discover more of my color story explorations below.

THE FROND

The frond. Commonly known as the divided section of a plant leaf; specifically in tropical palm leafs. This unique feature has made its mark on me and defines tropical, resort and simple but elegant. This cut out can be seen in the latest frond dress released in our signature natural creme, and charcoal color. It is a signature frond that is even identifiable when the shadow is lurking over the sand or manmade concrete. These are images I took while traveling, which allowed me to further study the organic structure. During my visit to the Dominican Republic, the fronds structure was signature to many places I visited.

THE TRENCH

Developing the trench was such a fascinating process. Inspired by military men structured coats, and furniture — we really wanted to keep that traditional unisex box like structure, while cinching areas like the waist and bust areas. Double layering is a concept that was thoroughly explored, which can be seen in  the removable epaulettes. The unique khaki can be combined with numerous combinations and is also 100 percent organic cotton, which was a journey to discover. Finding the perfect khaki was enjoyable because we wanted something that was off to the traditional khaki. In addition to this, I wanted it to be a complimentary color of the spring and the fall. so it could be versatile.

DISCOVERING CREME:

After many studies and explorations, GEORGINA D'ANGELO has found three creams that compliment each other and will allow pieces to intermix within one another. Each creme, finalized into "Slate, Ecru, and Off-white. These will find their signatures within seasons, but can still be combined and feel a sense of unity. Discovering the perfect creme was such a thrilling journey.
